Police have arrested two more people over a fire at the Crooked House pub in Himley.

A 34-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man, both from Leicestershire, were arrested yesterday (27 September) on suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson with intent or being reckless as to whether life was endangered.

They have both been released on conditional police bail while investigations continue.

The fire at the iconic pub, once called "Britain's wonkiest, was reported to the emergency services at 10.45pm on August 5.

The burnt-out shell of the building was demolished without permission within 48 hours of the fire.

The blaze came just two weeks after the building, which opened as a pub in the 18th century, was sold by brewer Marston's to a private buyer.

Staffordshire Police added: "The 66-year-old man, the 51-year-old man and the 33-year-old man, who were all previously arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life, remain on conditional police bail at this time.

"We are still asking those people who might have information which can help us to get in touch if they haven’t already."
