Police launch appeal for witnesses after fatal Shropshire collision

The incident took place near Tong in the Shifnal area of the county

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a fatal collision near Shifnal in Shropshire.

Officers were first alerted to an incident taking place on the A41 near the village of Tong close to Shifnal in the south east of the county.

When responders arrived at 1am on Sunday morning (August 4th), they found a single-car collision with a black Seat Arona after it hit a tree and caught fire.

The incident took place on the stretch of the road between the junction of the Pickmere Roundabout and Lizard Mill Farm.

Emergency services were called to the area, but despite their best efforts, the driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

It has now been established that no one else was in the vehicle when it crashed, and no other vehicles on the road were involved in the incident.

Investigations are now underway following the incident and police are appealing for information.

Anyone who may have seen the crash take place, or may have any dashcam or doorbell footage is being urged to get in touch with West Mercia Police as quick as possible.
