Third man charged with attempted murder following shooting in Birmingham

The arrest was part of "Operation Target" by West Midlands police to crack down on serious and organised crime.

West Midlands Police have charged a third man following a shooting in Birmingham in June.

A man was shot in the chest in Alum Rock, on June 27, shortly after midnight.

Awais Ahmed, aged 20, faces charges of attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and possession of an offensive weapon in a private place.

The victim is in recovery, with police saying his injuries were not life-threatening.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court today (19 July).

It is part of Operation Target by West Midlands Police.

Officers say they are 'taking a defiant stand against a range of serious and organised crime offences – from drug dealing and burglary to cyber crime and fraud.'

The police say they will us 'local intelligence, seizing goods, carrying out warrants and targeting offenders to crackdown against serious and organised crime.'
