Officers from St Matthew’s team, based in the town centre, were called to Wolverhampton Street shortly before 4pm on Monday.

Officers carried out stop and searches and recovered a baseball bat.

A 15-year-old boy was taken into custody on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon.

He has been released on bail with strict conditions while we carry out further enquiries.

“Under 25 serious youth violence is a priority in Walsall and we will continue to target those people who come into the town with a weapon with the intention of violence.”
