Children at Solihull School are among the last people to receive a letter from Her Majesty.

Pupils received a note of thanks from Annabel Whitehead, Lady-in-Waiting, on behalf of the Queen, last Thursday.

It was sent in response to artwork posted to Her Majesty for her Platinum Jubilee in June.

The letter opens: "To the students at Solihull Preparatory School, the Queen wishes me to write and thank you for the colourful cards which you sent to Her Majesty on the occasion of her Platinum Jubilee."

Class teacher Nichola Atkins said it was a lovely surprise for children returning to school following the summer holidays: "They were so excited, they couldn't believe that she'd actually looked at all of the things we'd sent and replied to us. It was really special."

The letter will now go on display at Solihull School for current and future students and staff will be able to see it.
