A yellow weather warning has been in place across the West Midlands today as snow continues to fall, with an amber warning for parts of Shropshire.
It has caused disruption to travel across the region with heavy traffic on roads and delays to trains and buses.
There was a serious collision on the M5 northbound at junction 4 near Rubery, just after midnight today (Thursday) where three people were injured. One man and two women remain in hospital in a serious condition. The road had since re-opened.
Birmingham Airport also faced disruption. They held flights coming in and out of the airport earlier whilst their airfield team cleared the runway of snow.
They have since announced they are "open and fully operational."
Shropshire has been the worst area hit across the region, with Councillor Richard Marshall, describing how they are "working around the clock" to help minimise the disruption.
"We've had quite a heavy dousing of snow, which has meant that our gritting teams have been extremely busy and we've been out with 2510 ton gritters plus a couple of smaller gritters to get some into the centres and car parks.
"Shropshire being such a rural area means you genuinely can't get to some of the areas with the big gritting lorries, so strategically placed across the Council area, we've got over 1800 grit bins, for instance," he said.
Birmingham City Council have also announced they will be gritting roads early tomorrow morning.
More than 250 schools shut across the West Midlands today due to the weather with many pupils switching to onine learning.
And attractions across the region also shut to visitors, including West Midlands Safari Park, Drayton Manor, Dudley Zoo and The Black Country Living Museum. Many have also said they are planning to close again tomorrow.
But as well as causing disruption, the snow has meant a day of fun for children across the West Midlands.
Like many others, children at St Alban's Primary School in Birmingham have been busy making snow sculptures.
A weather warning is still in place for tomorrow across the region, as more snow is predicted to fall.
