Tens of thousands of protestors are expected to gather for a pro-Palestinian protest in Birmingham - which organisers hope will be one of the biggest in the city's history.

The rally on Saturday will see demonstrators march from Sparkhill Park before hearing speeches at St Martin's Square.

Ex-Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, rapper Lowkey, and former West Midlands Mayoral Candidate Salma Yaqoob, are amongst those addressing the rally.

It's taking place more than three months since Hamas' attacks in Israel on October 7th.

Around 1200 people were killed, with another 250 were taken hostage.

The Hamas-run health Ministry in Gaza say nearly 25-thousand Palestinians have been killed by Israeli military action since.

One of the protests' organisers, Imran Khan, told Free Radio that people from "all walks of life" will be attending.

"The message we want to get across is stop the violence, we want a ceasefire."

Saturday's demonstration is one of many nationwide, and follows months of protests since October 7th.

Mr Khan said it's important the protestors continued to ensure they left a legacy.

"We have to keep protesting, we have to call for an end to the violence" Mr Khan said.

"Hopefully this will come about and we can avoid many more civilian deaths."

Mr Khan added that "violence is not going to help to solve the situation in the Middle East," and said further UK airstrikes in Yemen would not "help the situation."

The UK government have rejected calls for a ceasefire unless Hamas no longer posed a threat to Israel.

But they do support humanitarian pauses to allow more aid to reach civilians in Gaza, and Israeli hostages to be released.
