Police say they've made arrests following disorder involving fireworks in Birmingham city centre.

On Thursday night, groups of people launched fireworks in the street and from buildings around Bagot Street and Staniforth Street, with some aimed towards officers - according to police.

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder, fireworks offences and assaulting an officer.

An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, violent disorder and fireworks offences.

A 19-year-old man was arrested for assaulting an officer and has been dealt with by community resolution.

Officers say they also spotted a man selling fireworks from the back of his van, while out on patrol in Handsworth yesterday.

Police seized both the van and fireworks.

Officers say they're now investigating to see if it's linked to the disorder in the city centre.
