Police investigating after man shot in Smethwick

He suffered non life-threatening head injuries after the incident on Christmas Eve

Police are investigating after a man was shot in Smethwick on Christmas Eve.

West Midlands Police say they were called to Astbury Avenue just before 7:30pm.

A man in his 30s was taken to hospital with non life-threatening head injuries, and has since been discharged.

Officers from the force's Major Crime Unit say CCTV footage of the incident shows a car leaving the scene shortly after the shooting.

Detective Chief Inspector Alastair Orencas, from the Force Criminal Investigation Department, says officers are "working tirelessly on this investigation and to find whoever is responsible for this."
