Nine people have escaped unharmed from a significant house fire in Wolverhampton - which engulfed the whole propery.

West Midlands Fire Service was called at 3.35 am and the first crews arrived three minutes later. 30 firefighters were involved at the height of the fire.

A spokesperson for the service said: "All nine occupants of the mid-terrace house had evacuated without injury and no rescues were required.

"Three neighbouring properties were also evacuated to avoid smoke inhalation.

The fire is now under control, and the incident has been scaled back, while we focus on some hot spots.

Most of the staff remaining at the scene in Whitmor Reans are involved in investigating the cause of the fire, along with colleagues from West Midlands Police.
