A new food support hub has been launched in Wolverhampton today to help those through the cost-of-living crisis.

It's the first style of support to be opened in the city by food charity FoodCycle, but the ninth to come to the Midlands.

The reason behind the hubs is to help end food poverty, loneliness and food waste.

As well, FoodCycle found that 63 percent of people can't afford to buy the food they need, and that 75 percent often skip meals.

Through the hub people can go and have a three-course meal all prepared for them for free.

FoodCycle Midlands Regional Manager, Jody Beswick said; "We are thrilled to be opening our third Project in the Black Country and ninth in the region this year, bringing the magic of FoodCycle to the local community in Wolverhampton.

"The cost-of-living crisis continues to hit people across the country including those worried about their energy bills as winter approaches, so our service is more vital than ever. We look forward to providing a welcoming space and a nutritious, three-course meal to anyone in the community who needs it, no questions asked.”

The new FoodCycle hub is at 2 Merridale Ln, Wolverhampton WV3 9RD, with meals served every Wednesday at 5pm.
