'We all have a responsibility': Birmingham police crack down on dangerous driving after spike in fatalities
It all took place in two operations across Birmingham by West Midlands Police.
West Midlands Police have been taking part in two operations to tackle dangerous and illegal driving in Birmingham.
Superintendent Gareth Mason said: "The roads are broadly safe. We all have a responsibility of raising the issues with dangerous driving and reporting it to the police.
"These types of enforcement operations are taking place everyday, it is a challenge and that's why we need a whole partnership approach to tackling issues.
The first operation was based just off Belgrave Middleway and consisted of officers heading out in cars to spot motorists breaking the law.
We went out with officers and, within minutes of being on the road, a car was spotted to have illegal plates.
They pulled the vehicle over and escorted it to a car park, where the driver was grilled.
This exercise happened on multiple cars with offences such as tinted windows, using a phone whilst driving, and many more.
The exercise was just roads away from where a cyclist was killed, one in four deaths on the roads from dangerous driving in recent weeks.
Elsewhere, police were cracking down on drivers who were driving too close to a cyclist.
An undercover officer would radio through about the vehicle and then they were pulled into a car park.
Drivers were then given an education lesson and shown the distance they should leave from a cyclist.
