Pop-up events are happening throughout the week

From Monday 7th to Saturday 12th November, the local NHS, alongside partner organisations, is hosting its own ‘Men’s Health Week’ to tie in with the national ‘Movember’ campaign.
Pop-up events will be happening around Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin where GPs will be joined by pharmacists, mental health therapists, screening specialists and local cancer charity Lingen Davies.
These health care professionals will be on hand to talk to passers-by and give advice when needed.
The local campaign aims to raise awareness of key health issues such as prostate cancer symptoms, abdominal aortic aneurysm screening and the prevalence of hidden mental health concerns.
Local GP and Clinical Lead for South-East Shropshire, Dr Jess Harvey said: " The idea is that this creates a conversation about all forms of men's health, especially mental health. I think people are often a little bit embarrassed about coming forward, but they really shouldn't be.
"This is something we want to have a conversation about and get people feeling comfortable talking about it," she said.
The events will run on:
• Wednesday 9th November at Darwin Shopping Centre, Shrewsbury, SY1 1PL 10am-4pm
• Thursday 10th November at Telford Shopping Centre, Telford TF3 4BX 8.30am-8pm
• Saturday 12th November at AFC Telford match Wellington, TF1 2TU 12-3pm
• Saturday 12th November at Shrewsbury Town FC match SY2 6ST 12-3pm
You can also get your Covid autumn booster at the Telford Shopping Centre event between 11am and 4pm.
