A man has been jailed after raping a woman in Birmingham.

Abdullah Alnamer, 36, from Stadium Road in the city, approached the woman in the early hours of 23 January 2022.

The woman - who was in her early 20s - had separated from her friends following a night out in the city centre when Alnamer approached her in his car.

He took advantage after following her in his car, which is where he attacked her.

Alnamer sold the vehicle the next day.

An investigation, with CCTV and forensics, identified Alnamer as the attacker.

He was arrested in March 2023 and charged with rape, which he denied.

However, a trial at Birmingham Crown Court convicted him and he has been sentenced to 15 years in jail.

West Midlands Police said: "We work closely with local partners and venues to ensure your safety on a night out."
