A man's been jailed for attempted murder after carrying out a vicious knife attack in Sandwell.

Obeidulla Waffa's victim needed life saving surgery after being stabbed in the arm and chest in Victoria Park, Smethwick, in August last year.

The 22-year-old attacked the man after a dispute.

Waffa was identified as the prime suspect and arrested after being spotted by officers in Cape Hill earlier this year.

Waffa, of Cheshire Road, Smethwick, was convicted of attempted murder following a trial at Wolverhampton Crown Court last month.

The 22-year-old also admitted possession of an offensive weapon earlier from this year and was jailed for 21 years for the offences on Thursday.
