A man who crashed a stolen car seriously injuring two passengers in Warwickshire has been jailed.
Daniel Williams, 36, crashed the car in Wood End on 19 October 2022. Police had tried to stop the car after receiving reports of people trying to steal cars in Dordon.
After seeing police, the driver fled at speeds of up to 70 miles per hour in a 30 miles per hour area before crashing in Edge Hill.
Williams fled from the crashed car leaving the two passengers behind with life changing injuries. He was eventually arrested a short distance away.
Officers later established the car had been stolen from Sutton Coldfield the previous month.
The front seat passenger suffered numerous fractures and a ruptured aorta that required heart surgery. The rear passenger suffered fractures to his pelvis and leg.
Williams, of Moor Lane, Tamworth was jailed for six years at Warwick Crown Court last week after pleading guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving, conspiracy to steal a motor vehicle, driving without insurance and aggravated vehicle taking.
Detective Constable Sian Cook from Warwickshire Police Reactive CID said: “Williams ran off leaving his mates in agony screaming for help and has shown no remorse. With friends like him who needs enemies.
“Williams will be out in six years. The two injured in the crash will live with the scars of his recklessness for the rest of their lives.”
