Man taken to hospital and roads closed following Erdington collision

A car hit a tree on the A38 Tyburn Road this morning (Friday 16 August)

West Midlands Police are at the scene of a serious collision after a car hit a tree on the A38 Tyburn Road in Erdington.

One man, the driver of the vehicle, has been rushed to hospital with potentially life-changing injuries.

The collision took place shortly before 6am this morning (Friday 16 August).

The carriageway is currently closed in both directions between Salford Circus and Wheelwright Road.

Diversions are in place and police are asking motorists to use Abbotts Road off Tyburn Road out of the city, and divert off Tyburn Road along Wheelwright Road coming into the city.

Traffic collision investigators are also at the scene to establish exactly what happened and are asking for witnesses.
