Man dies in collision in Birmingham

It happened on Great Hampton Street on Sunday

One pedestrian has died and another has been injured following a road traffic collision in Birmingham yesterday afternoon.

West Midlands Ambulance Service received several 999 calls reporting a collision involving a car and two pedestrians on Great Hampton Street, Birmingham at around 3.45pm (Sunday). Two ambulances, two paramedic officers, a critical care car and a MERIT trauma doctor and paramedic attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Ambulance crews arrived to find bystanders performing CPR on one pedestrian, a man. Sadly, nothing could be done to save the man by the team of ambulance staff and he was confirmed deceased on scene.

“The second pedestrian, a man, was assessed by ambulance staff and treated for minor injuries before being conveyed to Sandwell Hospital for further checks.

“The driver of the car, a woman, was also assessed and discharged on scene.”
