Man charged in connection with level crossing crash in Shropshire

A man from Birmingham has been charged in connection with a collision on a level crossing in Shropshire.

Police have been looking into a crash in Onibury in February.

Alex Brookes, who's 36 and from Wythall, is charged with vehicle theft and drink driving.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson said:

"A man has been charged in connection with a collision in Shropshire.

"Alex Brookes, 36, of Station Road, Wythall, Birmingham is charged with taking a motor vehicle without the owners consent and driving whilst over the prescribed limit of alcohol.

"The charges relate to a collision on the level crossing in Onibury, Shropshire on 18 February 2025.

"He is due to make his first appearance at Telford Magistrates Court on Tuesday (9 September)."
