Man charged and another arrested over Wolverhampton shootings

Police don't believe the two shootings are linked.

A man's been charged in connection with a shooting which left a woman injured in Wolverhampton.

The woman, in her 20s, was injured when gun shots were fired in Bitterne Drive at around 1am on 23 April. She was taken to hospital and treated for a leg injury.

Police have charged 21-year-old Kane Jones from School Green with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possession of ammunition in a public place, and wounding with intent and violent disorder.

He was due to appear at Wolverhampton Crown Court today (6 May).

Officers have also made a further arrest in connection with a shooting in Shelley Road, Bushbury, which saw two children injured.

It happened on Monday (1 May). Police said the children are expected to make a full recovery.

A 21-year-old man was arrested from an address in Wolverhampton yesterday evening (5 May) and is being questioned on suspicion of attempted murder.

A 25-year-old man who was arrested on Thursday (4 May) in connection with the investigation has now been released on bail.

The shootings in Bushbury and Whitmore Reans are not believed to be linked.
