Man charged after police officers rammed into with car in Birmingham

A man has been charged after police officers were driven into in Highgate on Saturday.

Police have charged a man with multiple offences after officers were rammed by a car in Birmingham on Saturday.

Mohammed Shaheeb, aged 38, is accused of attempting to cause grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving, failing to stop, going equipped for theft, possession of a blade, possession of cannabis, and motoring offences.

Officers out on patrol tried to speak to a man acting suspiciously in a VW Scirocco on Montpellier Street, Highgate, at around 9.30am.

Three police vehicles and a parked car were rammed before the suspect was arrested.

Three officers were injured. One was taken to hospital but has now been released, while the other two suffered more minor injuries.

Shaheeb is due before Birmingham magistrates today (Monday).
