Man arrested for attempted murder following hit and run in Birmingham

The 50-year-old is being questioned for attempted murder.

A Birmingham man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after three pedestrians were injured in a suspected deliberate hit and run.

A Nissan Qashqai mounted the pavement in Burton Wood Drive, Handsworth on Saturday just before 2.30pm and struck a teenage boy and girl causing severe cuts and bruising, and leaving a 20-year-old woman with a broken leg.

The boy had been on a pushbike and was flung in the air with the bike landing on a fence. It was lucky all three were not far more seriously injured.

The vehicle drove off and investigations led us to a 50-year-old man being arrested on Tuesday morning (30 July). He remains in custody for questioning.
