Man arrested after police find cannabis farm in Solihull
West Midlands Police discovered around 70 plants.
A cannabis farm in Solihull has been shut down following an early morning warrant.
Officers from the Priorities team attended Dorchester Road, where a cannabis grow with around 70 plants was discovered.
A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis and abstracting electricity.
They will remain at the scene throughout today to allow for the safe removal and disposal of the plants.
National Grid staff will also be there to make the site safe.
Cannabis farms are incredibly dangerous as the electricity meter often is been bypassed, with seriously overloaded electrical circuits running close to water-filled pipes.
Plants grown upstairs in a building can also cause floorboards to rot, presenting the danger of collapse.
In addition it is also important to consider that sometimes the people working in the ‘farms’ are victims of human trafficking and working against their will.
