The M6 will be closed in both directions this weekend at junction 10 in Walsall for major engineering work.

The closures will be in place from 8pm on Friday 24 until 6am on Monday 27 September.

There will be diversions in the area.

Two huge 44m 120 tonne steel bridge beams are being lifted into place across the carriageway.

The project is meant to replace the two 50-year-old bridges currently in place over the M6, increasing the flow of traffic.

Work on the north bridge has been finished while building work on the south bridge is commencing over this weekend.

National Highways has released this video about the work:

The closure comes ahead of a busy weekend for Birmingham, with 100,000 expected to visit for Pride celebrations and Coventry City, Birmingham City and Walsall all playing at home.
