Hockley Circus shooting; Police release new details after 13 year old boy injured
The boy is in a critical condition in hospital
West Midlands Police have released new details as they issue a fresh appeal to find who's responsible for the shooting of a 13 year old boy in Birmingham.
He's in a critical condition in hospital with potentially life-changing injuries after it happened at Hockley Circus last Thursday night.
The force say the offenders were in a black SUV style car that was seen near the entrance of Travis Perkins building supplies on South Road.
It then travelled up Soho Hill and turned left before the shots were fired at the young boy, hitting him in the back.
In a statement, detectives say "This is a busy area and we know lots of people were around - some have been in touch already – we thank you for this. But we urgently need anyone who’s not been in touch so far to do so. We’re also asking anyone with dashcams to check their footage as this may help us identify the people responsible.
DCI John Askew from Force CID said: "A young boy has been shot and my thoughts are with him and his family at this highly distressing time.
"We’re doing all we can to understand what happened and who was responsible. I’m sure you are equally as appalled as I am – so if you can help please do get in touch.
"Violence like this on our streets is simply unacceptable – we’re committed to apprehending those responsible and recovering the weapon(s) from our streets."
