Four men have been arrested following disorder at the Arcadian in Birmingham city centre.

The group were detained on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm after an incident in the early hours of Sunday morning (26 Feb).

Police were called to the Arcadian at around 3.15am, after a group of men were seen on CCTV passing around a bag with a suspected imitation firearm inside.

When one of the men saw officers approaching, the group ran off and discarded the bag.

PD Bud, a firearms dog, inspected the bag and detected a suspected imitation firearm. The Arcadian was sealed off for a short time while firearms officers recovered the bag.

A 21-year-old man was detained in a nearby carpark and arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm.

Three other men aged 23 were arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm and remain in police custody.

DI Matt Underwood from Force CID, said: “This was great partnership work between city centre CCTV staff and ourselves that has resulted in four people in custody and a suspected firearm being taken off the street.

“Our focus is to always keep people safe and prevent crime.”
