Four arrested in Coventry on suspicion of terrorism offences

Three men and a woman are being questioned.

Detectives from Counter Terrorism Policing West Midlands have arrested four people on suspicion of terrorism offences.

Two men, aged 26 and 18, were arrested in Coventry on Tuesday (31 January) on suspicion of engaging in conduct in preparation for terrorism under section 5 of the Terrorism Act 2006.

A woman, aged 58, was also arrested on Tuesday (31 January) and a 57-year-old man was arrested the following day on 1 February. They were arrested on suspicion of funding terrorism under section 15 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

All four continue to be questioned at a West Midlands police station following the pre-planned arrests.

A search of a residential address in the city continues, there is not believed to be any imminent threat to the public.
