Designed to prevent a catastrophic bleed following trauma or violence, the first aid kit was installed at the BP Service Station on Chester Road in #ChelmsleyWood today (15 February) by the Daniel Baird Foundation.

The equipment, which can be used by any bystanders, including police officers who are often the first on the scene, contains a portable bleed kit similar to those found on ambulances.

The initiative was set up by the foundation that was set up the family of Daniel Baird, who at age 26 was fatally stabbed outside a pub in Digbeth in 2017.

The kit was donated by Dawn Lewis who's husband Giovanni was killed in Kingshurst in 2016.

Inspector Wallace from Solihull Police, said: “We’re happy to support the Daniel Baird foundation as we together work hard to tackle knife crime.

"We believe having kits in such locations like this available in those vital early minutes will help prevent more tragic and unnecessary deaths."

The Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner, Waheed Saleem, added: “I’m delighted that we’ve got another one of these lifesaving kits installed as part of our rollout across the region.

“With these kits out in the community, they can help to control a bleed and prevent a tragic loss of life whilst the emergency services are on the way.

I want to thank Lynne Baird for the tireless work she is doing through the Foundation to ensure these life savings kits are available."We
