Thousands are expected to be at Telford's Festive Drone show tonight at Telford Town Park.

Around 400 drones are being used to light up the sky to create patterns and designs that relate to local landmarks and the festive period.

The free event is sold out, with around 12,000 people set to take to the park to watch the light up spectacle.

It's also a first time ever for the area to hold an event like this and to the large scale it's set to be.

Councillor Shaun Davies, Leader of Telford and Wrekin Council, said: "It's a celebration of Telford. It's going to be really positive, possibly a West Midlands first and definitely a Telford first.

"Having seen a sneak peak of the show, it could become a regular feature.

"It's part of an events package the council put on every year from the drones tonight to the balloon fiesta."

The event is free for those who were able to get a ticket.

Councillor Shaun Davies said: "Every family I talk to is feeling the cost-of-living crisis and this is one way in which we can hopefully put a smile on people's faces. The economic benefits are huge, we see people spending money locally as well at businesses and food."

Along with the drones, local artist Trademark Blud has written the soundtrack that will play out behind the drone sequence.

There will be two shows for the drones, one starting at 5pm and another at 9pm. Each last around 15 minutes.
