Family pay tribute to Birmingham crash victim
The family of a man who died following a collision in Pype Hayes have said he was “truly one in a million”.
Cyclist Joseph Hanlon was hit by a car as he used a pedestrian crossing on Chester Road at around 9.20pm on Sunday (21 August).
The 45-year-old sadly died on Tuesday.
His family have paid tribute today, they said: "We are all totally devastated at the tragic, needless loss of our beloved Joe.
“Taken far too soon by a callous, heartless hit-and-run driver.
“You touched the hearts of so many, such a loving, always happy character with an amazing smile, truly one in a million.
“Loved by all your family and friends. We are broken hearted and will miss you every day, but will carry you in our hearts forevermore.
“We pray for justice so you may rest in peace.”
Following an appeal police issued for the driver involved to come forward, a 34-year-old man attended a police station on Tuesday and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
He has been released pending investigation while officers compile evidence, including forensically examining a vehicle we seized, which they believe was involved in the collision.
Officers investigating the collision continue to appeal for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to contact them.
