A man’s been taken to hospital after a collision involving lorry and a pedestrian in Birmingham yesterday.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called at 6.11pm to Alcester Road South near Brandwood and sent three ambulances, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor and two critical care paramedics to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman says: “On arrival, crews found an elderly man trapped underneath the lorry.

“Once freed, medics treated him for potentially life changing injuries before he was conveyed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

“The MERIT trauma doctor travelled on board to provide continuing treatment en route.”
