A Dudley Support Hub has helped over 6,000 people in the borough with financial woes, food issues and energy costs.

They've handed over £350,000 from the council’s Household Support Fund to those eligible, and assessed and given nearly 3,000 fuel vouchers for gas and electricity worth over £140,000.

The hub opened in January and saw queues around the building with around 300 people a day seeking help.

Laura Thomas is from Citizen's Advice and said: "We've been overwhelmed by the demand and when we started in January we didn't expect the demand.

"We had up to 300 people queuing outside our hubs when it first opened, so we had to remodel because we couldn't handle to crowds that were asking for support.

"There's a lot of people who are concerned as we leave the summer months and enter into winter.

"We are seeing more and more people accessing the help of the hubs that are in work.

"We have the hubs until March next year but we believe the need will be greater than it is now."
