A mental health charity in Dudley is warning of the pressures on mental health over the festive period.

Tough Enough to Care run support sessions for anyone struggling with mental health issues.

In recent years, they've found that Christmas celebrations can make people feel lonely, stressed from financial pressure and the need to feel present in enjoying the big day.

As well, not all traditions like Christmas adverts, and advent calendars have a positive impact either.

Stu Bratt is the founder and CEO and said: "I think it brings home that realisation of what time of year it is and the fact that people have been trying to put it off.

"As nice as it is to see Christmas decorations and the party food going out on the shelves, it's all good to understand that it's not always something to boost your Christmas spirit and for some people it does have the opposite effect."

Tough Enough to Care have seen a rise in people reaching out for help during the winter months.

A survey from Rethink Mental Illness found that over 70 percent of people will feel isolated this Christmas.

If you feel like you need to reach out for help, you can find Tough Enough to Care here, where they operate a help line and drop-in sessions.
