After wowing millions of people worldwide during the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony on Thursday, the star of the show the raging bull has won the hearts of Brummies!

More than 2,500 people have signed a petition to keep it in Birmingham, after its creators revealed it wasn't built to last as a permanent display.

After being the focus of the ceremony at the Alexander Stadium, the 10-metre high mechanical bull was moved to Centenary Square, where it's on display for the duration of the Games.

Birmingham City Council leader Cllr Ian Ward suggested it could be thrown a lifeline though, tweeting: "The council is in discussion with partners to see what is possible for the future."

People have been quick to respond with suggestions for names for the bull, after the City Council asked for the public's thoughts for fun on Twitter.

Among the comments included Bab the bull, Peaky Bull-inder, Bostin' the bull and Bullie McBullface.
