Charity offers reward to find man wanted over murder of Birmingham teenager
Sekou Decoure was found with serious injuries in Lozells
The charity Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to £10,000 for information leading to the arrest of 33-year-old Ishmael Farquharson, wanted on suspicion of murdering a teenager in Birmingham this summer.
16-year-old Sekou Doucoure was discovered seriously injured on Nursery Road near Burbury Street, Lozells, on 12 July and despite the best efforts of paramedics and officers, nothing could be done to save him.
The public are encouraged not to approach Mr Farquharson but to get in contact with Crimestoppers anonymously or alternatively the police immediately.
Mick Duthie, Director of Operations at the charity Crimestoppers, said: “Sekou was taken away so cruelly at such a young age and his family are heartbroken. We would like to see justice fully served for them.
“If you think you know where Ishmael Farquharson is, please speak up and tell Crimestoppers 100% anonymously. Our charity exists to give people a vital anonymous option if they prefer not to speak to the police or give any personal details. You can tell us what you know and we’ll pass it on for you.
“As a charity that’s independent of the police, we have always kept our promise of anonymity – we’ve supported millions of people who have trusted us with their crime information since we began in the late 1980s.
“Please call our UK Contact Centre on freephone 0800 555 111, which is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, or fill in our website’s simple and secure anonymous online form. Nobody will know you contacted us and you will be doing the right thing for Sekou and his family. You may also be eligible for a reward and no piece of information is too small to tell us.”
Sekou’s mother has previously released this statement: “My son was a lovely, hardworking, kind and respectful boy. He absolutely loved his family and close friends.
“His biggest passion was playing football. He had his whole life ahead of him. He was taken from us too soon and in the worst possible way.
“I am begging anyone who may have any information that could help bring the culprits to face the law and keep them away from our society to come forward, before any other child’s life is taken away.”
