Car seized after uninsured driver tries to buy policy during police stop

A driver who tried to buy insurance for his car - whilst police had him pulled-over for not having cover in Bromsgrove - has seen his vehicle towed.
West Mercia Police say they detained the car when they spotted a motorist using his mobile whilst at the wheel and discovered it wasn't insured at Frankley Hill Lane in Frankley on Friday (15th September).
PC Ryan Clarke said, "While checking documents, the driver attempted to insure his vehicle with day insurance while stopped by police.
"We checked the details and called the relevant insurance companies who confirmed he had tried to take out the policy at the roadside 15 minutes into the 20-minute traffic stop in an attempt to make us believe he was already insured."
The man was issued with a Traffic Offence Report for using his mobile phone while driving and for having no insurance and his vehicle was seized.
West Mercia Police say the force supports the national #fatalfour operation to educate and prosecute drivers and passengers who place themselves and others at risk of harm, concentrating on speeding, phone use, seatbelt use and drink/drug driving.
