Birmingham School Games welcomes 1,000 children to Alexander Stadium
80 schools took part
A sports day like no other saw 1,000 children from 80 schools around the city take part in a range of different activities.
Archery, cycling and cardio drumming were just some of the sports on offer, all designed to inspire them to be more physically active as part of the legacy of the City's Commonwealth Games.
And the event which ran over two days was held at the home of the Commonwealth Games, the Alexander Stadium.
The CEO of Sport Birmingham Mike Chamberlin says: "This day and lots of other school sports day will be held here at the Alexander Stadium - how amazing is that!
"No where else in the country has an international standard stadium that the kids from just down the road can run, compete at or even just enjoy the facilities.
"We want the Games we had last year to truly inspire young people. We are working really hard to give all the youngesters an opportunity.
"For some people it is difficult, they won't necessarily know where the activities are or have parents to be able to afford the activities, so we just do what we can to give them opportunities."
It's also National School Sport Week, a celebration of school sport and a campaign to ensure all young people are physically active for 60 minutes every day.
