Birmingham crash leaves woman in critical condition after car fails to stop for police

A woman has been left in a critical condition after being involved in a crash in Edgbaston.

It happened after a car - A Toyota Yaris - failed to stop for police on Fountain Road at 10:22pm.

The Yaris continued onto Wadhurst Road before colliding with another car, causing it to hit the front of a house.

A passenger in that vehicle, a 53-year-old woman, sustained life-threatening injuries. The driver - a 45-year-old woman - is also being treated for serious injuries.

The driver of the Yaris, a 21-year-old man, and his passenger, a 17-year-old boy, were arrested before being taken to hospital to be treated for their injuries.

Sergeant Julie Lyman from Serious Collision Investigation Team, said: “This is a really busy stretch of road and we’re keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time.

“In particular if you have any dash-cam footage and was travelling along City Road at the time of the collision please get in touch.”
