A Christmas tree recycling campaign is back to raise money for palliative and end-of-life care in Birmingham.

Birmingham Hospice’s ‘Treecycling’ sees volunteers collecting and recycling Christmas trees – saving a car full of needles.

People can make a small donation to have their tree collected, with the money raised going towards palliative and end of life care for local people.

Last year, Treecycling raised over £140,000 by collecting and recycling over 6000 trees from homes across Birmingham, Sandwell, Solihull and Sutton Coldfield.

Birmingham Hospice is the primary provider of adult hospice care in Birmingham and the surrounding areas.

Once collected the trees are chipped and turned into biomass fuel.

Jess Turner, Community Fundraising Manager at Birmingham Hospice, said:

“Treecycling is a huge campaign for us and we’re so excited to be able to continue bringing a great environmental service to local people. It’s a hugely important fundraiser for us, having raised over £600,000 since 2011.

“By booking your collection and supporting Birmingham Hospice, you will make a difference to local people living with a terminal diagnosis, while making your life easier and being kinder to the environment – what’s not to love?"
