Birmingham charity climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and sky diving in series of challenges
The Al-Khair Foundation raises money for the most vulnerable communities
Volunteers from a leading Birmingham based Muslim charity are taking to the air, scaling mountains and pounding the streets to raise funds for vulnerable communities around the world.
Al-Khair Foundation (AKF) supporters from Birmingham are tackling a range of adventure challenges as part of its continuing efforts to help the homeless, disadvantaged and poverty-stricken families.
The charity has distributed £200 million in humanitarian aid in the last decade and helped 50 million people since it was founded in 2003.
It is now looking for more volunteers to sign up for its events throughout the year.
The busy calendar features sky-diving weekends, an expedition to climb Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro, in July and two other treks, in the Sahara in September and at Petra, Jordan, in November.
AKF Founder and Chairman, Imam Qasim, said: “Our fundraising event calendar has a variety of challenging and rewarding adventures which means there is something for anyone who wants to get involved.
“We know that everyone who takes part will get a lot of personal satisfaction from any of our events. They will also raise vital funds for those in the most hardship.
“Al-Khair’s efforts make a huge difference to communities and this is made possible by our volunteers and those who donate.”
The charity runs projects that provides hot food, warm clothes, shelter and clean water to the homeless and low-income families across the UK.
Its recent UK initiatives also include energy grants to families struggling with the cost of living crisis and rising energy bills, and an annual Christmas day dinner kitchen which provided over 600 warm meals.
