Aston Villa legends celebrate club's 150th anniversary
A commemorative kit is being launched to mark the occasion
Club legends and former players have been celebrating Aston Villa's 150th anniversary.
It's as the football club mark the occasion with the launch of a special commemorative kit.
Players will wear the black kit, modelled on the first kits worn by the club before the transition to claret and blue, in their third round match against West Ham United tonight.
Former Villa player and boyhood fan Ian Taylor told us he's proud to be part of the anniversary celebrations.
"It's absolutely amazing - not just to be a local lad who's managed to play for the football club he supports but to be part of this landmark in our history.
"It's something special."
We also spoke to Brian Little who spent his entire playing career at Aston Villa, before managing the club in the mid 90s.
"It seems a long time but I actually joined Aston Villa in 1969 and I'm still here today," he said.
"Every year something new crops up - something different and something special.
Chris Heck, President of Business Operations, said: “This unique anniversary kit was designed by adidas with the inspiration to deliver authenticity which is coming from the great, William McGregor.
“We are so grateful to have partners that go above and beyond our partnership for the good of the fans, thank you adidas and thank you Betano and Trade Nation.”
