Workers at an Amazon warehouse in Birmingham have gone on strike in an ongoing dispute over pay.

Around 100 GMB members are expected on the picket line at the Minworth site from 6.30am this morning (27 March).

The walkout will continue tomorrow (28 March), as the union campaigns for a £15 per hour salary for workers.

It is the second walkout staged at the £500m fulfilment since it opened in October last year.

Last week, workers at the Amazon’s Coventry fulfilment centre walked out as their dispute continues.

Rachel Fagan, GMB Organiser, said: "“This has been one of the biggest months of strike action in Amazon’s history.

“Pressure on Amazon to do the right thing is growing and GMB members are determined to win the pay and union recognition they deserve.

“Amazon cannot stand in the way of their workers’ demands for fair pay and union recognition; it’s time for Amazon to do the right thing and stop trampling on workers’ rights”.

Amazon said it regularly reviews its pay to ensure it offered competitive wages and benefits.

The online retailer added it's given workers a 20% pay increase over two years.
