Officers from the Birmingham city centre neighbourhood team are continuing to police the city and its events as we enter the festive season.

Working with our partners from the Business Improvement Districts (BIDs), the security team at Birmingham’s Christmas Markets and Birmingham City Council, they are committed to reducing crime and anti-social behaviour as well as providing reassurance to visitors and the community.

Over the last few days, they have received reports of anti-social behaviour in Dale End which they believe are being committed by young people travelling into the city after school.

To help us disrupt and disperse people who enter our city to cause issues, they've implemented a dispersal order which runs between 3pm and 10pm.

Yesterday (21 November), a 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of possession of fireworks and fireworks were also recovered.

Inspector Christian Harrison from the Birmingham Police, said: “The dispersal order sends a clear message that Dale End is a no-go area for anyone wanting to cause issues in the city.

“A number of people were spoken to yesterday and we will be contacting parents and guardians to inform them of this behaviour and make it clear that it will not be tolerated in the city.

“Anyone who comes into the city centre with the intention of getting involved in trouble can expect to be swiftly dealt with by officers.

“Working with our partners, we are committed to addressing anti-social behaviour and we want people to feel safe when visiting the city.

“As well as a dispersal order being in place, patrols around Dale End have been stepped up to offer reassurance to visitors and commuters.”
