50 firefighters sent to Worcestershire cottage
At approximately 21:44 last night (25 April), Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service was called to a fire at a thatched property located in the village of Charlton.
Over 50 firefighters, nine fire engines and a number of other specialist units tackled the fire using jets and compressed air foam.
Area Commander Rob Allen said: “Upon arrival, crews were faced with a traditional, timber-built cottage that was well alight. Crews worked hard to bring the fire under control and several crews will remain at the scene today for damping down.”
West Mercia Police also attended the incident and, fortunately, there were no casualties.
A fire investigation into the cause of the fire is currently underway.
