There's a warning to expect persistent heavy rain in much of Dorset in the coming couple of days.

A yellow weather warning's been issued, coming into effect at 9.00pm tonight (Wednesday 11th January) and lasting right through until 5.00pm on Thursday (12th January).

The area in yellow is where the weather warning's due to have the biggest impact

It's expected to affect the western side of the county, but showers are still likely for the eastern half too.

The Met Office says we can expect:

  • Flooding of a few homes and businesses
  • Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer
  • Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer
  • Some interruption to power supplies and other services is possible

The heavy rain is also being accompanied by strong winds, especially on the coast, reaching up to 60 miles per hour.

Once the alert passes, we're expecting some calmer, and sunnier, weather for Friday (13th January).
