Woman has petrol poured over her during assault

Police are trying to trace two people who walked by the incident in Bournemouth, who could be key witnesses

A woman's had petrol poured over her during an assault in Bournemouth.

Dorset Police now want to hear from two people who walked past the scene at the time, who they believe could be key witnesses.

Police received a report that at around 1pm on Wednesday 19 October a woman was assaulted by a man who was known to her in Capstone Road in Charminster.

It was further reported that the man had poured petrol over the woman.

Arrest

Following enquiries by officers, a 36-year-old Bournemouth man was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent. He has been released on police bail as the investigation continues.

Police Sergeant Marcus McCorkell, of Bournemouth police, said: “Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and I am appealing for anyone with information that might assist us to please come forward.

“From our investigation so far, we understand there were at least two people who walked past the scene of the incident around the relevant time. I would like to speak to these individuals as they may have important information to assist our enquiries.”
