Wimborne family hub to open later this month
Dorset Council's updated us on their plans
Families are to be offered more help with things like feeding their baby, mental health and relationships.
So-called "family hubs" are being rolled out across the country including in Wimborne.
The ÂŁ300 million national programme will effectively act as a "one-stop shop" to offer advice to under-25's.
Dorset is set to launch its second hub at Wimborne later this month.
The first opened at Ferndown a few weeks ago.
Cllr Andrew Parry, Dorset Council’s portfolio holder for children, education, skills and early help, said:
"We were incredibly pleased to open our first Family Hub at Ferndown recently. The Hub will strengthen the support and services we deliver for children, young people and their families. This is the first of a trailblazing programme of Hubs that we will be rolling out across the county which will help to make Dorset the best place to be a child.
"Where there is a physical presence, the Hubs are set in buildings that provide a number of services, including lots of community groups, so there will also be opportunities to make friends in the community through activities."
Dorset's been given ÂŁ875,000 of Government funding towards the project - which is being topped up with ÂŁ342,000 of Dorset Council funding.
Councillor Parry added:
"We were pleased to get the grant from the government because it showed recognition for the great things we’d already achieved for families in Dorset. Now we are pleased to show how we are delivering on our plans to make full use of the grant to further improve the lives of Dorset children."
It's hoped another family bub will also soon follow at Swanage.
