Weymouth Land Train supporting Weldmar Hospice this summer
Proceeds from the service's group rides will be donated to the charity
Weymouth's popular Land Train will be supporting Weldmar Hospicecare this summer.
The service will be donating the proceeds from their group rides to the charity.
Groups of up to 50 people can be taken around the Harbour route for ÂŁ50 per trip, with those funds going towards Weldmar.
Tony Poole, owner of the Land Train said:
“The land train is a firm favourite for visitors to Weymouth and I really wanted to make sure that local groups and residents can enjoy a trip on the train whilst raising funds for a local charity. This year we have teamed up with Weldmar. If any groups are interested in running a group tour, please get in touch with me and I will sort out a suitable date and time for their trip.”
Fiona Hansford, Fundraising Lead, for Weldmar Hospicecare said:
“We are thrilled to have the Weymouth Land Train on board as one of our supporters this year. We hope to bring a lot of joy to the groups who ride on the train whilst raising vital funds for Weldmar Hospicecare, providing specialist care to people in Dorset who have a life limiting illness, and supporting their loved ones.”
As well as the Harbour route, a second one will operate in the mornings and afternoons, along the Esplanade to the Sealife Centre at Lodmoor.
A licence for that route has been granted as the land train now runs on a more sustainable fuel than regular diesel.
It'll be in operation from June 1st to the end of August.
