Vet found guilty of murdering girlfriend in Bournemouth
31 year old Alberto Fioretti stabbed Stephanie Hodgkinson seven times
A man has been found guilty of murder after he killed his girlfriend at her home in Bournemouth.
Alberto Fioletti, aged 31 and of Fordingbridge, has been convicted of murder today (Friday 8th December), following a four-week trial at Bournemouth Crown Court.
He is due to be sentenced on Monday 15 January 2024.
The trial heard how Italian vet Fioletti had gone to 34 year old Stephanie Hodgkinson's flat with flowers and a card to try and save their relationship.
But when the mum-of-two told him they had no future, he stabbed her seven times, before stabbing himself in the stomach and dialling 999.
He told the operator he'd killed his girlfriend.
A post-mortem examination found that Stephanie died as a result of stab wounds to the chest.
Fioletti had previously admitted a charge of manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility, but had denied murder.
Detective Inspector Mark Jenkins, of MCIT, said:
“This was an incredibly sad incident where Stephanie, a young mother of two, lost her life during a brutal and violent attack by a man she had only known for a short time, but that she trusted.
“I can only imagine the devastation his actions have caused to Stephanie’s young children, her parents, family and friends who have suffered immeasurable loss.
“My thoughts and those of the whole investigation team remain with them at this extremely difficult time. My hope is that the outcome today brings some small comfort that justice has been served.”
