Two men charged with attempted murder after man hit by car in Bournemouth

Two men have been charged with attempted murder after a serious collision in Bournemouth.

Dorset Police received a report at 10.10pm on Monday (7 October) of a collision involving a black Range Rover and a pedestrian in Etches Close, at the junction of Western Avenue.

It was reported that the occupants of the vehicle fled the scene.

The pedestrian – a man aged in his 20s from Christchurch – was airlifted to hospital with life-changing injuries.

Following enquiries, two men – aged 20 and 54 from Bournemouth – were arrested in connection with the incident. They have now been charged with attempted murder, possessing an offensive weapon and assault occasioning actual bodily harm and are due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Friday 11 October 2024.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Bell, of BCP CID, said: "Detectives are continuing to support the family of this serious incident and will be out in the community today. I would continue to urge anyone with information or footage relating to the incident to contact us in confidence.

"There will continue to be a visible presence over the next few days and officers will be happy for members of the public to approach them to discuss this matter."
